The Showcase, an open mic night for songwriters, is gearing up to once again take place at The Creative Center. Performers sign up from 7:00 to 7:30, p.m. (no early sign up please). The first performer will take the stage at 7:30 and our songwriters will play until 10:30 p.m.
The Creative Center will host this monthly event for singers/songwriters in the community to perform their original music as a soloist, in a duo or trio. Open mic performances are from 7:30 to 9:30, in slots lasting 10 minutes or 2 songs, whichever comes first.
The evening will include a special half-hour long performance by featured artist Bob Teesdale, beginning at 9:30. To cap off the evening, selected performers from the prior Open Mic will entertain for a half hour. We then close out with an Original Music Jam with all musicians welcome to join in (which should be interesting, and creative).
More space will be available for quietly chatting and mingling. Light refreshments, set-ups, and a wider variety of affordable snacks will be available for purchase.
This event is FREE to the public, however donations are welcome.
Our first Showcase in February was a great hit, with all performance slots filled before the sign-up time was scheduled to finish. A basket of items donated by center members was raffled off and we received tremendous feedback from those in attendance. Click here to read MC John Paul McNeil's take on this fun first event.
Although some exciting new photo galleries are in the works on our site, you can see photos from our first Showcase event at resident artist Karine Thoresen's Facebook page here.
