Early on in a career in education, I learned of the many ways people learn. Some are auditory learners, others visual. Some can read and understand, others need to use their hands. The trick as a good teacher is to not pick one, but try to use as many as possible. A subject comes alive and is more deeply understood when experienced from a variety of perspectives.
Our up-coming art show, Visual Spirituality, is an experiment in just that kind of learning. Artists were asked to take a passage of scripture, a favorite quotation or story, or major spiritual theme and express it visually. The result is a show full of theological statements that fascinate as well as inspire. Through words and images, subjects come alive and can be more deeply understood.
Please come see the show, and join us for our opening reception on March 6th, 6:00 - 8:00 PM. The show will be up through Easter. If you cannot make the opening reception, be sure to stop by while it's up. You will be fed, inside and out.
